We are delighted to welcome new trainer Charlie Fellowes to the roster of Club trainers of the 2014 Flat season. Charlie, who has been the assistant trainer to James Fanshawe for the past six seasons, has moved across Newmarket and taken over the reins at the stable formally occupied by Marco Botti.
New Elite Racing Club trainer Charlie Fellowes More Than Ready ex Oceans Apart yearling colt During his time with James Fanshawe, Charlie, 27, worked closely with top-flight horses such as Spacious, Society Rock, Seal Of Approval and Elite Racing Club’s four-time winner, Ribbons. Prior to working in Newmarket, Charlie began his racing career riding out for Nicky Henderson during the school holidays, before spending some time in France at the Chantilly base of trainer Richard Gibson. Charlie also worked for Godolphin, after which he spent a year in Australia with Melbourne Cup-winning trainer, Lee Freedman.
Charlie has already taken charge of his first Club horse, the More Than Ready yearling colt out of Oceans Apart, who was a dual winner at two years. Charlie said “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Elite Racing Club for the kind support. It is a real honour as a first-season trainer to have horses for such a prestigious racing club, and I am really looking forward to creating some special moments on the racetrack.”
